Baylor Scott & White Medical Center

Baylor Scott & White Health Plan

What Does This Change Mean for Baylor Scott & White Members?

BS&W intends to discontinue its individual plans, including coverage purchased both on and off the ACA Marketplace. If approved by regulators, these plans will not be available for coverage beginning January 1, 2027.

This change does not affect employer-group or Medicare Advantage plans. It also does not mean that BS&W hospitals and doctors are closing or leaving the Marketplace entirely.

Can You Keep Your Baylor Scott & White Doctors?

BS&W has stated that its hospitals and physicians will continue accepting Marketplace insurance plans from participating carriers. However, each insurance plan has its own provider network.

Before selecting new coverage, confirm that your preferred doctors, specialists, hospitals, and facilities participate in the specific plan you are considering. An insurance company may offer several plans with different networks, so checking the exact plan is essential.

What Should You Compare for 2027?

When replacement plans become available, compare more than the monthly premium. Review each option’s deductible, copayments, prescription coverage, provider network, and annual out-of-pocket limit.

You should also consider your expected healthcare needs and any medications you take regularly. If you qualify for financial assistance through the ACA Marketplace, your savings may also affect which plan provides the best overall value.
